The U.S. Mission in Iraq had issued a statement condemning in it the murder of journalist Mohammed Bdaiwi Obaid al-Shammari, Expressing their heartfelt condolences to his family and colleagues.



The statement shaded light on a deeply concern about the circumstances surrounding Bedaiwi's death, calling on the Government of Iraq to conduct a full investigation into the incident and to hold the perpetrator of this criminal act to account. The killing of any innocent is to be deplored; the murder of a journalist is a particular affront because it strikes at a fundamental pillar of democracy – a free press.

The U.S. Mission had welcome the statements of condemnation made by the Office of the President of Iraq and acknowledge the quick reaction of the Iraqi Security Forces in responding to this crime.
