President Masoud Barzani Commemorates 41st Anniversary of Barzani Genocide with Call for Justice
In a poignant message delivered on Wednesday, Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), commemorated the 41st anniversary of the Barzani genocide, condemning the atrocities committed by the former Iraqi regime against the Kurdish people.
President Barzani highlighted the horrors endured by the Kurdish community under the Ba'athist regime, describing the tragic events that led to the massacre of 8,000 Barzani men. "The crimes committed against the Kurdish people are all the result of the chauvinistic, arbitrary, and inhuman mentality of the previous Iraqi authorities," Barzani stated, attributing the region's suffering and backwardness to this oppressive mindset.
Barzani's message paid tribute to the resilience and unity of the Kurdish people, especially the Barzani mothers and women who have "endured the pain of waiting, distance, and loss of loved ones." He also expressed profound gratitude to the people of Erbil, Harir, and the Soran plains for their support during these dark times.
