PM Barzani highlighted the Barzan region's historical significance as a center of revolution, uprising, and struggle, which has resulted in numerous attacks, destruction, and genocide.
In his special message, the Prime Minister paid tribute to all victims of the Ba’ath regime’s “racist campaign,” including those affected by the Anfal campaigns in Garmian and Badinan, the chemical attacks on Halabja, and other genocides across Kurdistan. "The Barzan region has always been a stronghold for defending Kurdish rights," PM Barzani stated. "That’s why the region has endured many attacks of destruction, burning, and massacre, but the enemies have never been able to crush the spirit of resistance. To this day, the Barzan region remains a center for defending the national rights and demands of the Kurdish people."
PM Barzani also reaffirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) dedication to securing fair compensation for the families of the victims of the former Iraqi regime. He expressed deep respect and remembrance for the martyrs of the Barzanis and all Kurdish martyrs, pledging to honor their legacy.
"We pay tribute to the martyrs of the Barzanis and all the martyrs of Kurdistan, and we will always remember them," he concluded.
Each year, the Kurdish community observes July 31 to honor the memory of the Barzanis who disappeared during the Anfal campaign, ensuring their sacrifices are not forgotten.
