On the current tensions in the al-Anbar Province, Kurdistan Region Presidency spokesman made the following statement:

The current tensions in the province of al-Anbar, including the arrest of the Iraqi MP Ahmad Alwani and the killing of his brother Ali Alwani, are a source of concern. While we send our condolences to Alwani’s family, and anxiously follow the events in that province, we hope that these problems are brought to an end as soon as possible.

We call on all sides to resort to dialogue to address the problems of al-Anbar province. We also announce that confronting terrorism should not be mixed with responding to legitimate demands and grievances by the people of Al-Anbar.
