The General Security Directorate (Asaish) of Kurdistan Region has issued a statement yesterday October 8, 2013, regarding the series of terror attacks on September 29, 2013, targeting security buildings in Erbil, in which 7 policemen were martyred and over 70 others were wounded.

“We at the Security Council of Kurdistan Region ensure all the people of Kurdistan that immediately after the attacks, we started investigations and have found facts related to the event “the statement reads.

“According to the results we have gotten so far, a number of terrorists form Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS), which found the opportunity to enter the Kurdistan Region and plan such terrible terrorist attacks” the statement adds.

The statement announces police already arrested a number of terrorists who have confessed their crimes. According to the statement investigations are still continuing.

At the same time, the statement assures the people of Kurdistan Region that these terroristic plans make them stronger in standing against terrorists in the stable and progressive region of Kurdistan.

The Kurdistan Regional Security Council assures all the people living or visiting Kurdistan Region that they will do their best for securing the region and keeping the continuation of economic and political progresses of the region.

On September 29, 2013 the headquarter of the General Security Directorate of Kurdistan became the target of series or terror attacks by Islamic terrorist group called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) who claimed the responsibility later that day.
