The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil congratulate the Iraqi Kurdistan Region on conducting successful regional elections on September 21, ensuring that the Region’s citizens had the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights at the ballot box

"This election was an important step toward solidifying the Region and the country’s democratic future." the statment reads.

"We congratulate Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC), which impressively managed and administered the elections, and the international observers and civil society monitors who played an important role in ensuring the election’s credibility" the statment added.
