Reuters: Kurds cast vote while take further steps towards greater autonomy
In a report by Reuters on Iraqi Kurdistan’s Election Day for new parliament, Iraqi Kurds believed to took further steps toward greater autonomy, security and stability in the region while the rest of Iraq and even neighboring countries most are facing violence.

Isabel Coles described Kurdistan as a successful region to provide security and peace while the rest of Iraq and even neighboring countries such as Syria are dealing with instability and violence.

In addition to security, the region has successfully attracted world’s well-known companies. A move that might help Kurds in the process of getting independence as it provides the economic bases.

“The Kurds have managed to insulate their region against the violence that afflicts the rest of Iraq, attracting investment from some of the world's largest companies, including ExxonMobil and Total.” The writer said.

Regarding the today’s election, the report emphasized on the importance of the upcoming government. "The 2013-2017 government in Erbil will be responsible for the most significant decisions for the Iraqi Kurds in a quarter century." Said Ramzy Mardini at the Beirut-based Iraq Institute for Strategic Studies.
