IHEC: Special Voters Begin Casting Vote Today
The Iraqi High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has announced that today September 19, 2013 Peshmarga forces begin casting their vote as on the day of election they will be busy keeping the region secure for a peaceful election. Prisoners and hospital employees are also going to vote today.

Early today at 07:00 am was the last chance for political parties and individuals to stop election campaigns for the parliamentary elections of Kurdistan Region, which will be held on September 21st.

Safa Musawi, Spokesperson of the IHEC said that the IHEC has completed all the preparations for the elections.

31 political parties will compete for the 111 chairs in Parliament, while 2.8 million people are eligible to vote in the elections.

According to the schedule, civilians would cast their votes on September 21, but employees for Interior Ministry, security, hospital and prison staff will vote today on Sept. 19.

"We are acting in accordance with the world's standards. We urge everyone to be transparent," president of the commission said.

3,119 observers will monitor the elections with 192 of them will be foreigners and 628 journalists will follow the polls.
