President of Kurdistan Masoud Barzani sent a condolence message in a statement published in Gulan Media to Falakadin Kakai’s family, friends and people of Kurdistan, expressing his feelings over the former minister of culture’s death.

“With great sorrow I learned the passing away of brother and friend of mine and of the people of Kurdistan, Mrs. Falakadin Kakai. This news saddened me very much.” the statement read.

“My deepest sympathy goes to his family, friends and people of Kurdistan, and I share their sadness." President Barzani said.

In his statement Barzani also sheds light on the great role of Falakadin Kakai in Kurdish revolt.

On July 31, 2013, Falakadin Kakai, Former Minister of Culture of KRG, has passed away. Kakai yesterday has faced heart attack. He has been directly gone to hospital but has passed away there.

Falakadin Kakai was a very famous Kurdish writer. He was the KRG Minister of Culture for two terms. He was President Barzani’s advisor before his death.
