The head of the Arab faction of the Kirkuk Provincial Council, Abdullah Sami al-Asi was shot dead in Kirkuk, according to local police.


A number of unidentified gunmen opened fire on the head of the Kirkuk Provincial Council's Arabic List and his bodyguards assassinating him and two of his guards on Monday, July 22, 2013.


According to the primary investigation, a group of gunmen opened fire on al-Asi using silenced weapons.
