Danish Foreign Minister welcomed KDP delegation in annual conference
In a meeting with the Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami, Denmark’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Villy Søvndal welcomed the KDP’s participation at the annual conference of Danish Socialist People’s Party.

On the sidelines of the annual conference held last week, Mr Hawrami, along with members of the KDP Committee in Denmark and the KRG Representative to the European Union Delawar Ajgai, expressed the KDP’s wishes for a successful conference and talked of the current situation in Kurdistan, relations with the central government of Iraq and recent developments in Syria.

Mr Hawrami spoke of the influx of refugees from Syria to Kurdistan, with figures reaching over 100,000, while also referring to the peace process in Turkey and the roles of President of Kurdistan-Region Massoud Barzani and Prime Minister of KRG Nechirvan Barzani in consolidating peace in the region.

The KDP Foreign Relations requested Denmark modifies its consular services in Erbil to a permanent Consulate to encourage developments of bilateral relations.

Minister Villy Søvndal expressed praise for the sacrifices made by the Kurdish people and sympathised for the suffering and injustice inflicted on the Kurdistan-Region.
