So far some 27 women have registered for Kurdistan beauty pageant which will be held June 28 in Erbil's Rotana Hotel.
This is the first time a women beauty pageant is held in Kurdistan. Last year attempts to hold the contest were to no avail.

The nominees are from Duhok, Erbil and Suli provinces as well as Kirkuk and the number is increasing, said Sirwan Toqiq, pageant organizer.

Tofiq added any Kurdish women originally from the Kurdistan Region can nominate herself for the contest, but those from Syria, Turkey and Iran are not allowed,

The contest is supervised by Miss Poland and a Lebanese professional group, according to Tofiq.

The contest will be held according to the Kurdish traditions and the nominees will wear appropriate Kurdish clothes, Tofiq said.
