8 Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) guerrillas have been killed by Turkish army in eastern Turkey on Thursday, Turkish media reported citing Bingol province governor Hakan Guvencer.

Five of the militants killed were women, Reuters reported citing security sources.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict since the PKK took up arms for Kurdish self-rule in 1984.
