Regarding the Unrest in the City of Zaxo and Surroundings



People of Kurdistan,

On Friday 2nd of this month in the city of Zaxo, a mullah had issued a fatwa in a Friday's prayer, in it, he describes that attacking massage centers, hotels and places of recreations as jihad and encouraged standing up against them. Group of mobs took matters to their own hand and led others to distractively attack those places and setting fire on them. Afterward these problems similarly and rapidly reached Semel and some other parts of that Region, it became apparent that these acts were preplanned and they have prepared attackers for them and it had set plans, specially targeting all those places of Christian and Yezidis and their assets.


Peaceful People of Kurdistan,


These complications, politically and socially, are an attack on the principles of peaceful co-existence of all nations and religions in Kurdistan, and spreading unrests in the Region so it hinders the process of developing and rebuilding it, putting a halt to our serious efforts of reforming plans and preventing them from achieving their aims. Thus, we reiterate the need to control these acts with the co-operations of all political parties and governmental organizations of the Region and finding rapid solutions which prevent them from happening again anywhere else in a way that it will not have any political and social repercussions, and open all the means of solutions. And particularly, to protect the wellbeing and the assets of the Christian and Yezidi citizens. Perpetrators and supports of these destructive acts should be arrested and brought to justice.


We are rejecting the reaction of the Islamic Union, and their accusations toward our party is not acceptable, and we will follow up on it and we will hold them to an apology to our party and stop their media campaign against us immediately, we, the Political Bureau of Kurdistan Democratic Party, support the work of the committee which has been appointed by the President of the Region for investigating this matter and offer them our full support. Similarly our efforts are devoted to protect the principles of democracy, co existence, rebuilding, and development in the Region, and reiterate our commitment to the reform process.
