PKK spokesman: PKK forced Turkish troops to withdraw in Zakho
Clashes between PKK elements and Turkish troops broke out on Monday in Zakho district of Duhok province, PKK spokesman Ahmed Danis told PUKmedia in a telephone interview.

He also said that nearly 1000 Turkish troops tried to cross the border to enter some areas of Zakho city but their forces pushed them to withdraw to inside Turkish territories .

Turkish troops entered Amedi area in Duhok province, but clashes have not broken out between them, he added.

Zakho is a town located in Duhok province of Kurdistan region.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in the conflict since the PKK took up arms for Kurdish self-rule in 1984.
