Salahadin, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, (krp.org)- President Barzani today met with General Lloyd Austin, the Commander of the United States Forces-Iraq, in Salahadin, to exchange views on the ongoing discussions on the impending US troop withdrawal from Iraq.

In the meeting, President Barzani and General Austin discussed a number of issues including security challenges that face Iraqi security forces, joint security patrols with Peshmerga and Iraqi forces, as well as discussions on the planned withdrawal of US forces by the end of this year and its effects on future cooperation between Iraq and the United States.

General Austin also introduced General Lt. General Robert Caslen, commander of the new Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq, who will be in charge of US training and security cooperation with Iraqi forces.
