Thousands of people from Khanaqin district demonstrated Sunday , against the decision of the Prime Minister of the Federal Government Nouri al-Maliki to lower Kurdistan flag on schools and government institutions there , demanding al- Maliki to withdraw the decision.

Khanaqin district commissioner Muhammad Mala Hassan told the demonstrators that their demands will be carried out and Kurdistan flag will remain flying with the Iraqi flag on all government buildings and facilities and Khanaqin will remain a Kurdistani City.
