Thousands of citizens carrying large flags of Kurdistan Region , took to the streets of Khanaqin today to protest against a decision issued by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al- Maliki to lower the Kurdish flag on top of schools and government buildings in the district.
Maliki’s aforementioned decision fueled anger among officials , residents in Khanaqin district in particular and Kurdistan Region in general.
