Sweden: 20 Kurdish Iranian asylum seekers to deport
The Kurdish refuge seekers among them women and children protested against the decision. The protest later turned to hunger strike for five days, but Swedish authorities still refused their claim.
"We have begged and shouted, but the Migration Board has not listened. Now we will silence our voice, perhaps then they will listen" said one of the protesters who sewn his lips to be continue on hunger strike against the imposed deportation.
Campaigners believe that possible prosecution could be waiting for most of them.
" Although the Kurdish asylum seekers have documents from the Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and are living in Sweden for the past 1-8 years, Migration Board of the country rejects their application to stay in Sweden", Campaigners added.
A petition has been launched by the Campaigners on the Change.org website to stop Swedish authorities implementing the decision.
Each year many asylum seekers including Kurdish refugee seekers leave their own country to stay in the second or even sometimes third country, facing serious risks including death in their cross-borders trip or deportation followed by prosecution or long-term prison in their native country.
