National - Maliki to prevent Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki issued a decision yesterday to prevent rising Kurdistan flag in the disputed areas of Diyala province, the mayor of Khanaqin stated.


In a statement Maliki issued a decision to rising only Iraqi flag instead of raising Kurdistan flag in all government directorates in Khanaqin district.



Regarding the issue, Mayor of Khanaqin expressed "Kurdistan flags were raised due to citizens' will and we will not be in opposition to this will."



"The flag of Kurdistan will remain in all government directorates in Khanaqin." he added.

The flag of Kurdistan had been raised since 2003 in Khanaqin, exactly after that the Baath regime was toppled.
