Prime Minister Masrour Barzani: Challenges Will Not Hinder Kurdistan Region’s Progress

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani participated in a special panel titled "Navigating Challenges, Embracing Opportunities" on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai.

Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the exchange of successful experiences between countries to address common challenges and achieve sustainable development.

He underscored the strong and strategic ties between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE, noting that the Kurdistan Region seeks to benefit from the UAE’s successful experience, particularly in economic reform and governance..

Prime Minister Barzani reiterated that the Kurdistan Region’s security and stability have played a crucial role in attracting investment and driving economic growth. He emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to diversify revenue sources and boost the private sector to create job opportunities for young people and reduce over-reliance on public sector employment.

Regarding digital governance, the Prime Minister pointed out that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is committed to digitizing public services to improve transparency, combat corruption, and streamline administrative procedures, ensuring better services for citizens.

Prime Minister Barzani stressed the importance of building a resilient and flexible economy that can adapt to global changes. He emphasized that diversifying revenue sources and enhancing the private sector are key pillars of the KRG’s long-term economic strategy.

Addressing the Erbil-Baghdad relations, Prime Minister Barzani stated that the KRG is committed to resolving political disputes with the federal government. He reiterated that dialogue and negotiations are the best options for achieving stability and prosperity in Iraq.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of education and training, emphasizing that the KRG has made significant progress in this field. Numerous universities and institutions play a key role in developing the region’s human capital.

He reaffirmed that the KRG will continue working to meet citizens’ needs and improve living standards through strategic governance, efficient resource management, and long-term development planning.

Reflecting on the future of the Kurdistan Region, Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed that despite challenges, the Kurdistan Region remains on a path of progress and prosperity.
