President Barzani Meets Czech Ambassador to Iraq, Discusses Bilateral Relations
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – President Masoud Barzani received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Iraq, Mr. Jan Schnaidov, at his residence in Salahaddin on Tuesday. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Karl Kurtanek, Consul General of the Czech Republic in Erbil.
During the meeting, Ambassador Schnaidov congratulated President Barzani on Kurdistan Flag Day and extended his congratulations on the victory of the Kurdistan parliamentary elections last October, which paved the way for forming a new cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). He emphasized the strong relationship between the Czech Republic and the Kurdistan Regional Government and expressed his country's readiness to further develop these relations in various fields.
President Barzani welcomed the new Czech Ambassador to Iraq and wished him success in his role. He highlighted the historical ties between the Kurdish and Czech peoples, expressing hope for the continued strengthening of bilateral relations. On the political process in the Kurdistan Region, President Barzani stressed the importance of dialogue among political parties, hoping it would yield positive results in forming a new KRG cabinet that reflects party merits.
The discussions also touched on the political and security situation in Iraq and the wider region. President Barzani and Ambassador Schnaidov exchanged views on the latest developments in Syria, with a particular focus on the future role and rights of Kurds in the country.
