On the directive of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, a high-level government delegation participated in the International British Business Council (IBBC) Conference in Dubai on Thursday. The event aimed to strengthen international partnerships and attract foreign investment to the Kurdistan Region.
The delegation was led by Falah Hassan, Head of the Directorate of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and included prominent officials such as Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Head of the Kurdistan Investment Board, and Guhdar Shekho, Administrator of Zakho Independent Administration.
Speaking at the conference, Falah Hassan highlighted the strategic importance of the Kurdistan Region's presence at the event. "Our efforts at the conference are focused on fostering international relations and establishing coordination between our institutions and international organizations, companies, and global businesses," he stated. "The aim is to bridge connections between local entities in the Kurdistan Region and international stakeholders attending the conference."
The IBBC conference in Dubai is a prominent platform for facilitating economic collaboration and business opportunities between Iraq, Kurdistan, and international business leaders. The event draws companies, investors, and government representatives from around the world, fostering partnerships that promote regional development and economic growth.
The participation of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) delegation underscores the region’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a gateway for global investment. The presence of high-ranking officials signifies a commitment to advancing the Kurdistan Region's economy and creating stronger connections with international organizations, investors, and companies.
By engaging with influential global stakeholders, the KRG aims to boost foreign investment in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology, thereby supporting the government's broader goal of economic diversification.
The IBBC conference also provides an opportunity for Kurdistan to showcase its favorable business environment, which includes investor-friendly regulations and strategic access to regional markets. The KRG hopes that its active involvement in international economic forums like this will attract sustainable investments and further promote its image as a key player in the Middle East’s economic landscape.
