Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Baku on Monday at the official invitation of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. On Tuesday the President took part in the opening ceremony of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Baku.

On the sidelines of the conference, the President engaged in discussions with several heads of state and leaders from the participating nations. COP29 is set to run until November 22, during which attending countries will explore strategies to safeguard the planet against the impacts of climate change and address its associated challenges.

President Nechirvan Barzani, together with heads of states and governments, also participated in a dinner hosted by the President of Azerbaijan.

In a message posted on X, the President of the Kurdistan Region expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for his invitation and extended congratulations to the Azerbaijani government and its people for the well-organized conference and program.
