KRG and Trade Bank of Iraq Hold First Meeting to Advance Digital Payroll for Public Sector

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) "MyAccount" initiative took a significant step forward this week, as representatives from Iraq’s Trade Bank (TBI) and the MyAccount technical team held their first collaborative meeting since finalizing their partnership. This initiative, focused on digitizing public sector payroll, aims to streamline salary distribution and financial services for government employees across the Kurdistan Region.

According to an official statement from the KRG Ministry of Finance and Economy, the meeting concentrated on accelerating employee registration, distributing new bank cards, and installing ATMs throughout the region. The ministry noted that over 10,000 TBI bank cards would be distributed in the coming days, expanding financial access for KRG employees. TBI’s inclusion in the MyAccount project brings the number of partner banks to eight, following an initial agreement with the KRG in May.

TBI has committed to enhancing its services in the Region by opening new branches in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah and setting up ATMs to ensure convenient access for KRG employees. The Ministry encouraged employees who have not yet registered to visit MyAccount centers, expressing appreciation for the patience of those awaiting the program's launch.

As of now, nearly 700,000 KRG employees are registered with MyAccount, enabling them to access a variety of financial services provided by the program’s partner banks. The project aims not only to facilitate payroll but also to offer more robust banking options for government employees across the Region.
