President Nechirvan Barzani held a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday afternoon.

Both leaders emphasized the significance of enhancing Türkiye’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the economic sector. They deliberated on strategies to boost trade exchanges, create job opportunities, attract capital, and promote Turkish investments across various areas of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The President of Türkiye emphasized his nation's ongoing collaboration with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, highlighting the private sector's willingness to engage in various investment opportunities across different industries.

During the meeting, both sides voiced their concern regarding the intricate circumstances in the Middle East, highlighting the associated risks and potential repercussions for the region. They agreed on the importance of collective efforts to avert any further escalation of conflict and to address the issues through peaceful means.

The meeting also addressed the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the Development Road Project, the relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with neighboring countries, the challenges posed by terrorism, and the ongoing efforts to combat ISIS.
