Kurdistan Regional Government Implements Over 5,000 Service Projects in Five Years

The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism announced on Sunday that more than 5,000 service projects, valued at approximately 4.66 trillion dinars, have been completed during the five-year tenure of the ninth cabinet, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

According to a ministry report, a total of 5,440 service projects have been implemented across the Kurdistan Region, with the majority already finalized and others nearing completion. These projects were funded through a combination of the investment budget, ministry revenues, regular budget allocations, and contributions from foreign organizations, universities, and international agencies.

The ministry also confirmed plans for additional projects in the near future, continuing the government's efforts to improve infrastructure and public services across the Region.

Breakdown of Projects by Sector:

  • Municipal Sector: 2,004 projects, worth 2.79 trillion dinars.
  • Water Sector: 2,755 projects, worth 1.79 trillion dinars.
  • Archaeological Sector: 167 projects, worth 34.1 billion dinars.
  • Tourism Sector: 118 projects, worth 48.7 billion dinars.

These figures underscore the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) commitment to enhancing local communities and investing in critical infrastructure improvements.

In addition to these developments, the Director General of Water Resources, Karwan Hawrami, announced that six dams and 45 ponds have been constructed during the last two years of the ninth cabinet. Hawrami emphasized that water security has been one of the region’s most pressing challenges since the start of the ninth cabinet, making the completion of these projects a vital step towards addressing the issue.

These accomplishments reflect the KRG’s determination to improve essential services and ensure sustainable development across various sectors, benefiting the people of the Kurdistan Region.
