KRG Begins Distribution of Kerosene to Educational Centers Ahead of Winter

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced the commencement of kerosene distribution to educational centers in preparation for the upcoming winter season. The move, approved by the Kurdistan Council of Ministers, aims to ensure schools and educational facilities are properly heated during the harsh winter months.

At a press conference on Thursday, September 19, 2024, Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed confirmed that the Council of Ministers had given approval for the kerosene distribution, which has now been referred to the Ministry of Finance for implementation. "The Council of Ministers has approved the process of distributing kerosene to educational centers in the Kurdistan Region, and the matter has been referred to the Ministry of Finance," Saeed stated.

The distribution process will be open for tender in the various provinces, after which the supply of kerosene to schools will begin.

This initiative is part of the KRG’s broader efforts to improve educational infrastructure and provide students with a comfortable learning environment during the cold winter months. By ensuring schools are adequately heated, the government aims to minimize disruptions to the education system caused by winter weather.

The kerosene distribution is expected to provide vital support to schools across the region, ensuring they remain functional throughout the winter season.
