Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Meets with British Ambassador to Discuss Elections and Federal Relations

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, held a meeting today with the British Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hitchen, to discuss key issues ahead of the upcoming legislative elections in the region. British Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, Andrew Beasley, also attended the meeting.

The discussions focused on preparations for the elections, with both sides emphasizing the importance of conducting the electoral process in a secure and transparent manner. They stressed that the elections must take place in a safe, fair environment, free from any form of violations or fraud.

In addition to election-related matters, the meeting also covered several pressing issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad. These included securing the region’s rights and financial entitlements, as well as ensuring continued support for the Peshmerga forces.

The talks underscored the importance of resolving disputes between Erbil and Baghdad through dialogue and cooperation, with a shared commitment to maintaining stability and protecting the interests of the Kurdistan Region.
