Kurdistan Regional Government Completes 585 Road Projects, 291 More Underway
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – In a major effort to enhance the economic infrastructure of the Kurdistan Region, the current government, led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, has successfully completed 585 road construction projects, with an additional 291 projects currently in progress.
As part of these developments, 1,363 kilometers of new roads have been built under the 585 completed projects, which include 75 strategic initiatives. The total cost of these projects has reached 930 billion dinars. Notably, some of the projects were entirely carried out by local expertise, utilizing 11 million square meters of asphalt.
Among the key completed projects are the Pirmam Tunnel, a strategic 2.5-kilometer tunnel, and the 400-meter Rania Dam Bridge. Additionally, the Greater Zab River Bridge, stretching 900 meters, stands as the largest bridge in the Kurdistan Region.
These strategic road projects have not only improved services for citizens but also bolstered the region's economic infrastructure, stimulating growth in the commercial, industrial, and tourism sectors.
