Strategic Goptapa-Chamchamal Water Project to Address Water Shortages in Chamchamal District

The Goptapa-Chamchamal Water Project, one of the major strategic initiatives of the ninth cabinet, is poised to resolve the longstanding water shortage issues in Chamchamal district and surrounding areas.

This project is designed to treat 3,400 cubic meters of water per hour and, operating 20 hours a day, will supply 60,000 cubic meters of water daily to citizens in the region.

Expected to be completed within 720 days, the project will be executed in two phases. In the first phase, water will be drawn from the small river, treated, and then distributed to Chamchamal, Aghjaler, Takya, and Shorsh. The second phase will see the water supply extended to 32 additional villages.

Once the project is fully operational, it will not only alleviate the water crisis but also have a significant impact on agriculture in Chamchamal and the surrounding villages, boosting local livelihoods and enhancing regional development.
