KRG Minister of State for Minority Affairs Highlights City’s Role in Promoting Coexistence and Development

Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Aydin Marouf, the Minister of State for Minority Affairs, emphasized the significance of Erbil as a key city for fostering coexistence among various religious and ethnic groups. In a recent interview with Kurdistan 24, Marouf highlighted the city's ongoing political, security, investment, and service advancements, describing these changes as "very significant."

Minister Marouf pointed out that the stability and security in Erbil, along with its inclusive atmosphere, are particularly noticeable to those visiting from outside the Kurdistan Region. He credited the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for playing a crucial role in supporting the city's diverse community and urged collective efforts to protect this harmony.

"The changes that have taken place in Erbil have benefited all its residents, regardless of their backgrounds," Marouf stated. He also noted that in the past, certain political factions had acted against the interests of minority groups for personal gain, which had adversely affected their rights and situation.

Touching on the issue of Turkmen representation in Kirkuk, Marouf criticized the formation of the local government without their involvement, calling it "a mistake against this component."

He further highlighted the stark differences between Erbil and other Iraqi cities, particularly in terms of development. "Visitors to Erbil, whether for investment or trade, will notice that the city is far ahead of other Iraqi cities, with a development level twenty years ahead," Marouf concluded.
