Today, on the 36th anniversary of the Anfal campaign in Badinan, we stand united in remembrance of the 182,000 innocent lives lost to one of the most heinous acts of genocide in modern history by the former Iraqi regime. The brutality inflicted upon our people during those dark days, from Garmian to the farthest reaches of Badinan, is a stain on humanity that will never fade.

While the Iraqi High Tribunal has rightly recognized the Anfal campaign as genocide and a crime against humanity, justice remains incomplete. We call upon the Iraqi government to take immediate action to provide adequate compensation to the families of the victims, ensuring that their suffering is acknowledged and addressed.

In the Kurdistan Region, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting the families of Anfal victims and to seeking international recognition of this atrocity as a genocide. It is our duty to ensure that the world never forgets the horrors they endured.

May the souls of the Anfal martyrs rest in eternal peace. Their sacrifice will forever inspire us to strive for a just and peaceful future for Kurdistan. We extend our deepest gratitude to the brave people of Erbil and the surrounding areas who opened their hearts and homes to the survivors of Badinan. Their compassion and solidarity are a testament to the resilience of our people.
