In a significant development aimed at enhancing the quality of education and higher learning in the Kurdistan Region, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired the inaugural meeting of the High Council of Accreditation for Education and Higher Education Programs on Sunday. The meeting, graced by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, marked a pivotal step towards fortifying educational standards across the region.

The primary focus of the meeting was to establish and outline the key objectives of the council, which seeks to safeguard and elevate the standards of education and higher learning in Kurdistan. Following extensive deliberations, the Supreme Council resolved to form a specialized committee tasked with bolstering trust and credibility in educational institutions and programs at the higher education level. The council further appointed committee members and a secretary-general to oversee pilot projects introducing accreditation processes in both public and private sectors. The committee will roll out assessment tools grounded in specific criteria to ensure academic excellence and educational efficacy.
