Kurdistan Region Authorizes Financial Assistance for 13,000 Individuals with Special Needs
In a significant move aimed at supporting individuals with special needs, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region has authorized the submission of names of 13,000 individuals to the Federal Ministry of Finance for financial assistance. This decision, confirmed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government, marks a crucial step in providing monthly financial grants to those in need.
Prime Minister Barzani's directive signifies a renewed commitment to addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities, with the region resuming the registration process for new applicants after a hiatus spanning over a decade. More than 13,000 individuals underwent assessment during this phase, with their names subsequently forwarded to the Federal Ministry of Finance to facilitate the provision of essential grants.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs had previously documented 13,227 individuals with special needs as of October 24, 2023, following assessments conducted by specialized committees. This recent initiative underlines the Kurdistan Region's dedication to improving the livelihoods of those with special needs through financial assistance.
