President Nechirvan Barzani met with French Ambassador to Iraq Patrick Durel in Baghdad on Sunday afternoon. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The focus of the discussion was on the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, as well as the upcoming Kurdistan parliamentary elections.

The President and French Ambassador viewed positively the recent progress in the relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Federal Government of Iraq. They emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and finding solutions to their outstanding issues.

Furthermore, the two sides also exchanged views on France’s ties with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They highlighted the visit by the President of the Kurdistan Region to Baghdad and his meetings with senior Iraqi officials.
