KRG to Participate in the 2024 World Economic Forum in Davos
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), led by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, will be participating in the upcoming 2024 World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. This delegation, comprising officials, business leaders and investors from the Kurdistan Region, marks a significant presence at this global economic event.
Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG Foreign Relations Department, underscored the importance of Davos as a premier global economic platform. He praised its role in convening world leaders, entrepreneurs, and major international corporations to address key issues in economics, politics, security, and the environment.
Dizayee described the WEF as an opportunity for crucial meetings and dialogues. This year is particularly noteworthy as it sees, for the first time, investors and entrepreneurs from the Kurdistan Region participating. Their aim is to network with global investors and engage in collaborative initiatives under Prime Minister Barzani's leadership.
In parallel, the KRG has established "The Kurdish House,” a dedicated venue showcasing the Kurdistan Region’s history, culture, and economic and investment potential.
Prime Minister Barzani plans to meet with various international leaders to discuss political developments and explore economic and investment prospects in the Kurdistan Region.
The 54th World Economic Forum will take place from 15-19 January, in Davos, Switzerland. The summit expects to welcome governments from over 100 countries and representatives from all major international organisations, featuring a diverse array of industry experts, media outlets, youth representatives, social entrepreneurs, and civil society leaders. This year's theme, "Rebuilding Trust," encompasses four key areas: achieving security and cooperation in a fractured world; fostering growth and employment in a new era; leveraging artificial intelligence for economic and societal benefit; and developing long-term strategies for climate, nature, and energy.
