ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — In response to the tragic fire incident at a wedding venue in Nineveh province's Hamdaniya district last month, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has initiated a comprehensive safety inspection of wedding halls across the Kurdistan Region. The move aims to ensure that safety standards are rigorously enforced to protect public safety.

Rebar Ahmad, the Minister of Interior of the KRG, has taken the lead by assigning a dedicated team of engineers and inspectors to oversee this vital safety assessment. The Department of Media and Information of the KRG released an official statement on Sunday, announcing this important initiative.

During the initial phase of the inspection campaign, the expert team will focus on assessing 38 wedding halls situated in the city of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region. Municipalities throughout the Kurdistan Region have also been directed to conduct similar safety examinations of wedding venues within their jurisdictions.

The decision to re-examine safety conditions of wedding halls follows the devastating fire incident that occurred late last September in Nineveh province.
