The Republic of Iraq has announced the appointment of a new ambassador to Saudi Arabia, reinforcing diplomatic ties between the two nations. Safia Taleb Al-Suhail, a prominent Iraqi politician and women's rights activist, has been selected as Iraq's ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The appointment was made official through a republican decree signed by Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid. This move highlights Iraq's commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and fostering cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Al-Suhail brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She has previously served as the Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and held ambassadorial positions in Jordan and Italy. Her diplomatic background, coupled with her dedication to advancing women's rights, is expected to contribute to the further development of bilateral relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Born in 1965, Al-Suhail is the daughter of Taleb Al-Suhail, a former member of the Iraqi Parliament representing Baghdad governorate. She is also married to Bakhtiar Amin, a former Minister of Human Rights. Throughout her career, Ambassador Al-Suhail has been a vocal advocate for women's inclusion in the political process, promoting gender equality and empowerment in Iraq.
