KRG appoints female Director General for crisis coordination center
ERBIL, IRAQ - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has appointed Srwa Rasul as the new Director General of the Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC), as part of its ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and women's empowerment.
Rasul's appointment marks a significant milestone for women's representation in leadership positions within the KRG. The JCC is responsible for coordinating and managing crisis response activities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, including natural disasters, conflicts, and humanitarian emergencies.
The KRG Ministry of Interior Rebar Ahmed congratulated Rasul on her new role and expressed confidence in her abilities to lead the JCC. "We are pleased to have Srwa Rasul as the new Director General of the JCC. Her appointment is a testament to KRG's commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment," said Ahmed.
Rasul, who previously served as the Deputy Director General of the JCC, brings extensive experience and knowledge to her new role. She has played a vital role in the JCC's response to various crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the influx of refugees and IDPs into the Kurdistan Region.
