President Nechirvan Barzani received Germany’s Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Martin Jaeger today in Erbil.

The meeting focused on the latest political developments in Iraq and the steps taken to restore the political process in the country towards peace and stability. Discussions also covered Erbil-Baghdad relations and the developments in the Kurdistan Region.

The President emphasized that stability remains the foremost priority of Iraq and its political process, underlining the importance of continued dialogue to overcome differences and to reach an agreement on how to correct the political process.

The President reiterated that the Kurdistan Region remains willing to resolve the differences with the Iraqi federal government through dialogue and constitutional channels in a way that all sides come out as winners, which will strengthen stability and relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Ambassador Jaeger spoke about his visit to the Kurdistan Region and stressed that Germany and the European countries attach great importance to the political process in Iraq, view its stability as crucial, and encourage the political process in the country to move forward.
