President Nechirvan Barzani received today in Erbil the incoming Ambassador of Canada to Iraq, Mr. Greg Galligan. The President wished the incoming Ambassador success and expressed the Kurdistan Region’s support for his new mission.

Discussions focused on Canada’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, the political process in the country and the efforts to overcome current challenges. Iraq’s security and confronting ISIS threats were also highlighted.

Both sides reiterated their mutual willingness to further advance their bilateral relations and expand areas of joint cooperation. Job and investment opportunities for Canadian businesses in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and the developments in the wider region were also discussed.
