President Nechirvan Barzani met with Foreign Minister of France, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany today.

The President offered Kurdistan Region’s gratitude to France for its support of the Kurdistan Region, and sides reiterated mutual willingness to further develop relations between the Kurdistan Region and France.

Discussions also highlighted the services of the French Embassy in Baghdad and the Consulate General in Erbil, commending their contributions in promoting France’s bilateral relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Other topics of discussion also included the latest political and security developments in Iraq, the threats posed by ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the recent ISIS assault on Hasaka Prison in Syria and its impacts.

Erbil-Baghdad relations and the relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with the neighboring and regional countries were also highlighted.
