President Masoud Barzani received, on Wednesday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and a accompanying delegation in Salah al-Din.

During the meeting, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of President Putin and the Russian Foreign Minister to President Barzani, stressing the value and position of the people of Kurdistan and the role of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq and the region. He added that Russia sees the Kurdistan Region as playing a major role in Iraq and is a stabilizing factor.

The two sides also exchanged views on the political situation in Iraq and the election of the Iraqi parliament last October.

In another part of the meeting, the threat of terrorism to the stability of the region was discussed, and the two sides agreed on the need to address the causes of the emergence of terrorism.

The situation in Syria was one of the highlights of the meeting, where President Barzani expressed his views and concerns about the future of the Kurdish people in Syria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister praised the historical relations between the people of Kurdistan and the Russian people, and praised the historical role of the Barzani family in developing those relations, wishing that his relations with the Kurdistan Region would develop.
