Ministry of Peshmerga issued statement regarding formation of two joint brigades and unification of Peshmerga forces
The head of the task force in the Ministry of Peshmerga said that "the cooperation and assistance of the coalition forces will be appreciated, and the Peshmerga forces will be stronger and more organized day by day."
He pointed out that "after the agreement between the Iraqi Ministry of Peshmerga and the Iraqi army to form two joint brigades, preparations are now underway to implement the two brigades."
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Peshmerga, the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Peshmerga, Fariq Jamal Muhammad, met with Colonel Patrick Douglas, Senior Adviser to the US Regional Security Coordination Center at the consulate in Erbil.
According to the statement, the beginning of the meeting was to discuss the last steps to unify the structure and cadre of the leaders of the first and second support forces of the Peshmerga forces.
"Efforts have been made quickly and progress has been made in coordinating these forces," he said.
He stressed that the other part of the meeting was to discuss the unification and reorganization of the seventy and eighty forces of the Ministry of Peshmerga that are working on reform projects and in cooperation with the coalition forces.
The senior adviser to the US Regional Security Coordination Team revealed that they will continue their cooperation and assistance to those steps, according to the statement.
The statement added that the coalition forces will support and cooperate in the mobilization of all forces and their return to the Ministry of Peshmerga, wishing them success in the operation.
The relations between the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi army in the disputed areas and the steps to form two joint brigades between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Peshmerga were another part of the talks between the two sides.
The Chief of Staff expressed the readiness of the Ministry of Peshmerga to carry out any task that falls between the formation of the two joint brigades, with the aim of restoring security and stability and protecting the residents of these areas.
