PM Barzani congratulates Yezidis on holiday marking fortieth day of Summer
The Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday extended his congratulations on Yezidis (Ezidi) on their annual festival that marks the fortieth day of summer celebrated on August 2.
“On the occasion of the Çileya Havînê Feast, I extend my warmest congratulations to our Yezidi sisters and brothers in the Kurdistan Region and the world,” Barzani wrote in a statement released on Monday.
The Kurdish premier also reiterated his government’s unwavering support for Ezidis, especially in facilitating the return of displaced members of the ethnoreligious group to their places of origin and rebuilding the war-torn areas with the support of the international community and Iraqi government, according to the statement.
Çileya Havînê means the fortieth day of summer and is commonly used to indicate the middle of the season.
