The US House of Representatives votes to repeal 2002 Iraq War authorization

The US House of Representatives voted, Thursday, to repeal an authorization to use military force dating back to 2002, and gave the US military the legal green light, at that time, to invade Iraq in 2003, CNBC reported.

After voting by 268 votes to 161, the decision to repeal the "authorization to use military force" will be submitted to the US Senate, where its fate is still unclear, according to Associated Press (AP).

Repealing the legislation requires the approval of at least 60 members of the 100-member Senate, which is evenly divided between the two parties, meaning that at least 10 Republicans must support the repeal of the mandate.
