British ambassador: Iraq will not be stable until militias are out of government control

The British ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, said the security situation in Iraq was "very difficult" and stressed that Iraq would never be "stable", as long as the militia was out of state control.

"These militias are the main cause of disruption and the deteriorating security situation, both against the Iraqi people and the government and even against the international coalition," he said in an interview with Sky News Arabic.

Steven Hickey says all Iraqis are well aware that the International Coalition is here with the consent and light of the government's green light, so there is no excuse for an attack on the International Coalition and US forces in Iraq.

The British ambassador further clarified that talks between the coalition and the Iraqi government are currently underway to improve the level of protection of the government, reiterating that it is time to severely repel the attacks and put an end to these illegal militants.

The British ambassador to Iraq also warned that ISIS was still a threat to the security situation and would continue to take action. He added that they, as an international coalition, continue to support Iraq. He also expressed concern over Iran's support for the Iraqi militia.
