Kurdish Leaders Congratulate Muslims on Ramadan
ERBIL - Kurdish prominent leader and President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, has congratulated Muslims in the Kurdistan Region and beyond the world on the holy month of Ramadan.

"I extend my heartfelt wishes to the Muslims of Kurdistan, Iraq, and the entirety of the world, praying to His Almighty that this Ramadan will bring health, joy, and prosperity to all," Barzani wrote on Twitter.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani also sent a congratulatory message to Muslims and hoped that efforts for and steps towards unity will be successful in the region with this occasion.

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani also issued a statement to congratulate Muslims on the occasion of Ramadan.

"Tonight, I join millions of Muslims in Kurdistan, Iraq, and around the world in marking the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. May God hear our prayers during these times of crisis, and this year, may Ramadan bring more peace and prosperity to the people of Kurdistan," he said in a statement on Twitter.

As the holy months comes while the pandemic situation continues to deteriorate in the Kurdistan Region, PM Barzani again called on the citizens to abide by the health guidelines.

"As everyone prepares to observe this holy event and celebrate with loved ones, we ask the people of Kurdistan to follow official health guidelines and implement self-protection measurements to ensure a safe and happy Ramadan, and protect each other from the coronavirus."

He further thanked the religious scholars "who are helping raise awareness of the risks of the pandemic and continue playing an important role in protecting our community."

"May God protect us and may Kurdistan have a blessed and peaceful Ramadan."
