Landmine Explosion Wounds Two Teenagers in Qalladza
Talking to Kurdistan 24, Idris Omer, an official from a local hospital, explained that the incident occurred in the village of Chakwani on Kurdistan Region borders with Iran, pointing out that the two victims are 18 and 20 years old, one of whom was a highschool student.
According to Omer, the faces of the two victims have been burned in the bomb explosion, while they have lost some of their fingers as well.
He added that one of the teenagers was sent to Sulaimaniya province due to his critical condition, while the other's medical situation is stable.
The mountainous areas are vastly planted with landmines which remain uncleared since the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988).
